VFX PREP SPECS
1) Project Delivery
- Format: Premiere
.prproj OR Avid bin .avb + AAF. Include a clean XML/EDL for each timeline.
- Media: All clips online (no “Media Offline”).
2) Timeline Setup
- Frame rate: match original camera (commonly 23.976 or 24). No conversions.
- Resolution: native plate resolution (no up/downscale).
- Start TC: 01:00:00:00.
- Flatten: remove effects/plugins/temp comps; deliver straight cuts.
3) Plate Exports
- Format: 16-bit EXR (preferred) or DPX.
- Color: camera LOG or linear. No LUTs/grades baked in.
- Naming:
[Show]_[Seq]_[Shot]_[v##]_[1001-####].exr
e.g., Project01_SC05_SH010_v01_1001-1120.exr
- Handles: +8 frames (minimum) included in the plate.
- Frame numbers: start at 1001, zero-padded.
4) Audio
- Remove all audio tracks from VFX timelines. No OMF/AAF for pulls.
5) Reference QuickTimes
- Codec: ProRes 422 LT/HQ.
- Burn-ins: project, shot name (match plate), timecode, frame numbers.
- Reference range must match the plate range including handles.
6) Editorial Notes
Provide one PDF/TXT shot list with:
- Shot name
- Cut work range + handles
- Effect description / notes
7) Delivery Structure
Top-level folder = Project Name

8) Final Reminders
- No LUTs/burns/watermarks baked into plates.
- Deliver full-res, full-quality, uncompressed plates.
- Reference QTs are view-only (no pulls from them).
- If unclear: stop and ask before sending.
